Why Become a Member of AACP?
When you join AACP, you become a member of a committed community of health professionals.
Each member receives:

Membership Types
Dentists -
Dentists may enter the Academy at the Member level. In order to become a Member, one must possess a Dental degree (DDS or DMD) from an accredited university or college and must be licensed by the state in which they practices. Advancement to higher levels begins at the Member level. Includes full voting rights, ability to run for office, and all other member benefits.
International Dentist -
As an international member of the AACP, you become a member of a committed community of global health professionals. In order to become a Member, one must possess a Dental degree (DDS or DMD) from an accredited university or college and must be licensed by the location in which he/she practices.
Advancement to higher levels begins at the Member level. Includes full voting rights, ability to run for office, and all other member benefits. Contact AACP Headquarters (info@aacfp.org) to see if you qualify for a hardship rate.
Academic Fulltime Faculty -Dentists practicing and teaching in a university/collegiate environment, not in private practice.
Associate -
Includes MD, DO, DC, NP, PA, RDH, PT, DPT, OMT, SLP, COMT, CSC who do not qualify for Full Membership (bylaws require candidate to be DDS or DMD). Category does NOT have voting rights, cannot serve office.
Student/First Year DDS -
Dental student and first year DDS/DMD following graduation. Cannot vote or hold office, but will receive monthly TMDiary, online education, and meeting discounts.
Emeritus (Retired) -
A retired Dentist who has been an active member of the academy while still practicing/treating patients. This level can still be actively teaching continuing education, but does not have an active patient base. Cannot run for office, but has voting rights and discounts to online and live education.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Fellow -
Fellow Membership recognizes those professionals who have demonstrated specialized knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial/orofacial pain, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and dental sleep disorders. Must be sponsored by two (2) Academy members holding Fellow, Distinguished Fellow, or Master of Excellence status; completed at least two (2) or more academic years of graduate study in an accredited dental school program which resulted in a certificate or advanced degree in the diagnosis and treatment of Craniofacial Pain and Temporomandibular disorders; OR a minimum of two hundred (200) hours of “related” continuing education courses which have been completed within the immediate ten years prior to the date of submission of written application for fellowship in the Academy; the applicant has personally completed all aspects of diagnosis and treatment for fifty (50) patients whose chief complaints included Craniofacial Pain of non-dental or alveolar origin.
Distinguished Fellow and Master of Excellence -
These levels are not currently available for achievement, but are still recognized for those who achieved that level when they were still obtainable.
